I love our county Parks and Rec. They have great programs at a very reasonable prices. Peanut was in dance for awhile and we only paid $35 a month-and that INCLUDED costumes! The gymnastics program is another great value. You pay $35 for 3 months. It is a low pressure type of program with an emphasis on skills, but none of the pressure that can be associated with gymnastics at other gyms. The program is just a little program for parents at the end. It is a big deal to the kids and of course the parents, but there are no talent scouts for the Olympics here.

Her first event was bars. She needed some help mounting

The spotters stay close in case she slips.

Look at her face! Is she proud or what? We were proud too.

This is her friend mounting up on the bars.

All of the girls do the same routine. Remember it is all about skill development and having fun.

She is moving to the transition between bars.

And her dismount!

Peanut is looking at other kids on the beam. I love it when her hair is up. Too bad she doesn't wear it up like this more often.

I, too am very pleased with the county parks & rec. We have been able to let our kids do tons of stuff with them, simply because it is so very affordable. Guitar lessons, gymnastics, surf camp, soccer, tball & more. I've heard from others that the dance program has some issues? Our gymnastics program this year is coming up soon, too!
I didn't notice any issues with the dance program. Then again I am not one of those parents wo is usually "in the loop." Peanut quit because she wanted to do more sports.
